Milton Cottage: A perfect base to explore the Northern Scottish Highlands from

Milton Cottage

Set in the picturesque village of Rosehall in the county of Sutherland, Milton Cottage is the perfect base to explore the North Highlands from. Rosehall is fairly central to the county, with villages and towns on the east coast such as Tain, Dornoch and Golspie being less than an hour away, and those on the west coast such as Ullapool and Kinlochbervie being about the same. To the north and again on the coast are the villages of Tongue and Durness, which is also a similar distance.

Rosehall village has a shop and post office, plus the excellent Achness Hotel which serves very good quality meals and always guarantees a warm welcome. From the village, there are many fine walks into the hills or along Glen Cassley and Strath Oykel – both these rivers joining in the village before flowing into the magnificent Kyle of Sutherland.

Milton Cottage is a traditional stone built dwelling, with the interior furnished to a high standard whilst still retaining much of its original charm. Sleeping 5 with two twin bedrooms and one single, the cottage is ideal for small groups who are in the Northern Highlands for walking, fishing, cycling, touring, bird watching, or just exploring the region. And if 5 isn’t large enough for your family or group, just outside the village we have a superb bungalow called Tigh na Rhos which sleeps up to 7.
